ABOUT

IFI supports film in education and promotes film culture among diverse audiences

IFI Education promotes film education, film culture and media literacy with all our audiences through a range of programmes, initiatives and across different platforms.

Central to our work is the IFI Schools programme for primary and secondary school students,  now available in-cinema at IFI or our partner venues, and online through our streaming platform, IFI@Schools.

IFI Schools Programme comprises film screenings, events, workshops and teacher CPD, supporting film as a subject, film as an artform for study or as a medium for exploring film and media literacy. Further support for teachers can be found on the IFI Archive Player. We have developed a Short Course in Film for Junior Cycle, which can be found here.

Outside of school we deliver the Young Audience Award (YAA) Jury programme of the European Film Academy. For more information see our YAA page. We also deliver a substantial Careers in Screen Programme each year, connecting young people (15-18) with the screen industries through an extensive programme of talks, workshops and masterclasses. Visit IFI Careers Space to watch past livestreams, Q&As and workshops.

Our IFI Family programme includes monthly screenings of some of the best films for children and culminates in the annual IFI Family Festival.

IFI Wild Strawberries is the twice-monthly over 55s film club and includes screenings of new releases, classics, Irish and arthouse, at reduced rates.

Along with our own research projects, FILM FOCUS and 12-14 Project, IFI has contributed to a Europe-wide development of a media literacy framework.

We have carried out a pilot project into accessible screenings, more information here.
