After a thrilling day feasting on European cinema, the Young Audience Award on Sunday May 5th was won by Fight Girl (Vechtmeisje) by Johan Timmers.
The YAA is the Young Audience Award, presented to the best European film for young people each year, as chosen by youth juries from all over Europe. At the YAA event on Sunday May 5th 2019, panels of young people (aged 12-14) from across Europe met in their local venues – with the Irish juries in Galway and at the IFI in Dublin – to watch and discuss films, and vote on their favourite. Supported by Creative Europe Desk Ireland – MEDIA Office, the two other nominated films Los Bando and Old boys are available here to stream on the European Film Awards Website. More information around the Young Audience Awards are here.
We are also proud to announce that one of our YAA panellists, Ben de Barra (age 13) is shooting his first film The Happy Garden. Supported by the Creative Ireland Programme.
