IFI International Screening Format Request and Conditions

Read all conditions carefully before completing the request form.

Please contact Eleanor Melinn, IFI International Programme Manager, at emelinn@irishfilm.ie, to check if the required screening format is available, prior to completing the request form.

IFI International

The Irish Film Institute’s IFI International Programme (IFII) is a cultural programme supported by Culture Ireland with the remit of building a global audience for Irish film. IFII works with a wide range of cultural festivals and non-commercial exhibitors. The Irish Film Institute (IFI) also makes Irish films from the collection of the IFI Irish Film Archive available to these Exhibitors following clearance with rightsholders.

Audience Attendance Figures and Feedback

IFI is contractually obliged to provide audience attendance numbers and feedback to its core funder, Culture Ireland.

  • The Festival/Embassy must complete the online IFII Feedback Form as soon as possible and within 10 working days of the end of the event. This includes, but is not limited to, audience attendance numbers, information about the screening, press coverage, images, marketing collateral and general feedback. The form may be accessed here: https://forms.office.com/e/WfphbJwiXD
  • IFII charges a delivery fee of €150 EUR for provision of the screening format. This will be waived only where the online form is completed on time.
  • Failure to provide feedback in a timely manner will impact on IFII’s capacity to facilitate future requests.
  • Where hard copies of the programme and other marketing collateral are produced, the Festival/Embassy must send one copy of each to IFII two weeks after the screening for reporting purposes and for preservation in the Irish Film Archive, and email a soft copy in PDF to Eleanor Melinn, IFI International Programme Manager at emelinn@irishfilm.ie.
  • IFII cannot commit to making any material available to the Embassy or the Exhibitor and both may not advertise the screening in any way before permission has been secured from the rights holder.
  • Unauthorised copying of the screening format is strictly forbidden, and the format must not be altered in any way, including creating other formats, as this is illegal.

Technical

  • IFII delivers DCPs digitally via Media Shuttle only, and MP4/MOV via MyAirBridge.
  • Material must be screened by a fully qualified projectionist, on equipment that is in good working order, and all files deleted thereafter.
  • Only one screening per title, per venue is allowed, unless otherwise agreed.
  • Where DCP is requested, the Exhibitor must provide IFI with cinema server certs in a timely fashion so that IFI can issue KDMs for encrypted DCPs. These should be sent to Angel Croitor at acroitor@irishfilm.ie

Logos and Marketing

  • IFI, Culture Ireland, and Arts Council Ireland logos and credits must be carried on all publicity materials and screening notes relating to the screening, both print, online, and onscreen idents. Logos can be downloaded from MyAirBridge here.
  • You may occasionally be required to carry additional logos.
  • If logos cannot be used, please use this byline: This screening is presented in association with the Irish Film Institute’s IFI International Programme supported by Culture Ireland.
  • The Embassy / Exhibitor is requested to add the hashtag #IFIinternational to social media posts, and to tag the IFI and Culture Ireland.

Please note:

  • This will generate a contract which you must sign and email to Eleanor Melinn at emelinn@irishfilm.ie.
  • IFI will not release any materials until you have cleared the film with rightsholders and provided us with clearance notice.
  • IFI International operates a Production & Delivery Schedule with a 12-16 week lead-in time and we reserve the right to decline requests where we are operating at capacity.
  • You must inform us if your screening date or venue changes or if the event is postponed or cancelled.
  • The period from January to end of April is the busiest for IFI International, with the majority of events scheduled in March and April around international St. Patrick’s Day festivals.
  • During the major film festivals and markets [Berlinale, Cannes, Venice, Sundance, Toronto] sales agents and distributors may not be available therefore the clearance process will take longer. Films may be held back by agents in advance of these events and this is out of the control of IFI.
  • The IFI International programme is funded by Culture Ireland. The core funder of IFI is Arts Council Ireland. IFI, Culture Ireland and Arts Council Ireland logos must be carried on publicity materials, printed, online, and onscreen idents. You may occasionally be required to carry additional logos.
