The IFI Family Festival 2017 is fast approaching, with events running from August 25th to 27th at the Irish Film Institute.
We’re going to be showing some top notch family films (with subtitles read out when needed!) as well as a whole load of shorts from around the world. What’s more, the festival itself will be kicked off by a visit from Laureate na nÓg himself, internationally renowned author and illustrator PJ Lynch!
That’s all happening on August 25th and there’s plenty more throughout the weekend, including a series of workshops which will let your kids get involved and learn.
On Saturday August 26th at 11.00, the team from Paper Panther Productions will be holding their own Tiny Puppets Workshop. Children from ages 7 to 9 will get the chance to work with these award-winning filmmakers to create their own stopmotion puppets using simple household materials!
Here’s a look at some of their extraordinary work:
The workshop will include the use of items like masking tape and sandwich bag ties to create imaginative characters. The sandwich bag ties make them very easy to move into any shape you want, all the better for photographing!
In the gallery below you can see an example of some of the materials used, which were assembled into fanciful models like the rook, which was used in Paper Panther’s An Gadhar Dubh project, which is currently in production.
This workshop is strictly limited to 12 participants ages 7-9, tickets are priced at €15 and are only available from box office on 01-6793477.
