OCT 6TH – NOV 10TH (18.15 – 21.30)
A six-week evening course on the study of film
This term we take a look at some of the key ideologies that have informed film theory, following on from our very popular Spring Evening Course which offered a back-to-basics approach to Film Studies. If you’d like to take a feminist reading of a horror picture, consider how race is represented on screen, or examine how the blockbuster reflects the political economy of Hollywood, then sign up for our six-week programme and join in the discussions.
Each week guest speakers will offer different readings in response to a selected screening. On the final evening, filmmaker, writer and teacher Donal Foreman will talk about his own film choice, and some of the ideas that inform his filmmaking.
Please note: The course will run on consecutive Tuesdays, commencing at 18.15 unless otherwise stated. Order of screenings may vary slightly.
