Refurb 2019

Phase 1 is complete! But we need your help to make our ongoing changes happen.

Thank you.

Changes are coming to the IFI and phase 1 is complete!

We are now in our next phase of this development, this behind the scenes work includes long overdue repairs to our leaking roof and improvement of access to our cinemas, as well as structural upgrades.

Thanks for bearing with us during our renovation works, as we can now reveal a new look in our main cinema spaces. Cinema 1 and 2 have been fully renovated with new, bigger seats, new carpets, new drapes, and improvements to acoustic panelling. Audiences can now enjoy a better quality arts experience in more comfortable cinemas, with better quality seating, more leg room and better sound.

As a charity, the refurbishment of our very unusual 18th century building is a big undertaking and whilst we have been very fortunate in receiving grants towards financing the project, we need at least double that to complete the cost of the renovations. Through a match funding grant, your donation will be doubled by a private fund.

Your support means that we can continue to channel our revenues into our not-for-profit activities, continuing our extensive education programmes across the country and ensuring the preservation of our moving image heritage through the work of the IFI Irish Film Archive.

You can help us in a number of ways including:

  • making a donation online, in our donations box or at box office
  • texting IFI to 50300 to send €4. IFI will receive a minimum of €3.60. Service Provider: LIKECHARITY. Helpline: 0766805278.
  • naming a seat in our new-look cinema – this is available as a gift option too!
  • becoming a Member for €35/€20 per annum
  • upgrade to become a Friend (from €10 a month)
  • take yours or your company’s name on our walkway with our other Luminaries
  • ask your company to name a corporate seat
  • encourage your company to become a corporate member

From all of us at the IFI – thank you!
