Stephen Boylan has been appointed Director of Marketing and Partnerships at the Irish Film Institute (IFI), Dublin.
This new senior appointment will see Stephen Boylan helm the Marketing and Partnerships team at the IFI, developing and delivering strategies across marketing, publicity and development for Ireland’s leading arthouse cinema and the home of film in Ireland. He will be responsible for driving initiatives in support of the institution, leading on communications campaigns across IFI Cinemas, the IFI Irish Film Archive, IFI Education, IFI International, IFI@Home and the IFI Archive Player, as well as the IFI Film Shop and IFI Café Bar. He will also manage key stakeholder relationships and seek opportunities for exciting new partnerships across media, hospitality, embassies, corporates and individual donors.
For 20 years, Stephen Boylan has worked as part of marketing, communications and commercial teams in the cultural and entertainment sectors. He is passionate about introducing audiences to meaningful and creative experiences that deepen and transform their cultural engagement. He lives in Dublin. He joins the IFI from his role as Head of Audience and Media at the Gate Theatre.

Stephen was previously our Press & Marketing Manager from 2016 to 2021, and since then, for the last four years, has been Head of Audience and Media at the Gate Theatre. We are delighted to be welcoming Stephen back to the IFI family. Stephen has 20 years’ experience within the Irish film and theatre sectors, and the UK and Irish book trades, as part of marketing, trading and digital teams. He has led on a number of creative and successful strategic marketing and outreach campaigns, tailored to a wide range of diverse audiences. On behalf of the Board and staff of the IFI, we are looking forward to working with Stephen once again when he takes up this role in the autumn”.
