The staff of the IFI are deeply saddened to hear of the recent passing of one of our most loyal and loved members, Samuel McCarthy.
For many years, Sam was a daily fixture in the IFI foyer, often stopping in around midday to take up residence on his usual spot on the bench outside Cinema One. Whether he was sat silently immersed in a book, dropping his trusty backpack in behind Box Office while he watched a film, or sharing stories over an evening glass of wine with one of his fellow regulars, Sam’s gentle presence in the IFI was felt with great fondness by the entire Front of House team. He will be greatly missed, and we wish to extend condolences to his friends and family.
