This film screened 26th & 31st Ocotber 2018.

This highly effective screen adaptation of Marcus Zusak’s best-selling novel successfully retains the book’s essence, that of a WWII tale through the eyes of a child. Young Liesel arrives alone at the home of her foster parents, learns to read and befriends young Jewish Max whom they harbour, despite the risk. Avoiding the more obvious wartime film clichés, we see the family’s struggle to survive while Liesel spreads some much-needed joy through book thefts
and shares.
