The refurbishment of the IFI was one of the key developments in creating Temple Bar as we know it today. The down-at-heel district was earmarked for redevelopment as a giant bus station in the 1980s. The area’s cultural and entertainment potential was realised just in time, and the Government established Temple Bar Properties (now Temple Bar Cultural Trust) to lead the regeneration of the area in 1992.
