PANEL DISCUSSION: APPRAISING THE UPRISING Director: Approx. 60 mins Book cinema tickets Tickets €5 Film practitioners and historians will reflect on the Appraising the Uprising programme, exploring the value and veracity of representations of Irish history on film; the impact and purpose of different genres; the exhibition history and reception of historical film and television; alternating versions of history from a range of geographic and temporal perspectives – how did the Rising look from 1926, 1966, and now 2016? The panel will include film scholar and John Ford expert, Charles Barr; Andrew Gallimore, renowned director of a series of historical documentaries including The Treaty (1921) , The Siege (2012) and the forthcoming The Enemy Files (2016) and UCC historian Dr. John Borgonovo.
