Irish Film Institute -WHAT RICHARD DID

WHAT RICHARD DID

Director: Lenny Abrahamson

2012, Ir4eland, 87 mins

To mark the launch of our Film Focus report and the release of What Richard Did, the third feature from Lenny Abrahamson (Garage, Adam and Paul), we have exclusive free screenings of this riveting drama for Transition Year students at five different venues. What Richard Did is a striking portrait of the fall of Richard, golden-boy of his privileged set of Dublin teens, whose world unravels one night. The story follows Richard through the summer between the end of school and the beginning of university. Everything seems possible until Richard does something that destroys it all and shatters the lives of the people closest to him. Featuring extraordinary performances from its mainly young cast, this is a quietly devastating study of a boy confronting the gap between who he thought he was and who he proves to be.
