IFI Education Initiatives

Some further initiatives connecting young people with IFI and other organisations through film

Junior Cycle Short Course in Film
Our Short Course in Film comprises 100 classroom hours of three different but complementary aspects of film education. Drawing on a range of teaching and learning methodologies, students are encouraged to explore different films, apply their understanding of film language to create their own short films, and share their film with their peers.
The Short Course in Film is available to download from our website https://ifi.ie/short-course.

Film Club Pilot
Now in its third phase, our film club pilot is operating across the country, at both primary and secondary level. Teachers are trialling dvd and streaming models, with different groups. The pilot requires some commitment from teachers in terms of providing feedback, scheduling screenings and facilitating the club.

IFI & Gaisce – The President’s Award

Are you interested in trying something new for Gaisce? During the 2019/2020 school year, we are trialling a new initiative in association with Gaisce, for students undertaking their Gaisce Award. This is designed for self-directed, motivate students who are curious about alternative cinema and developing their film and visual literacy through a combination of screenings, research, writing and reflection.

If you think this might be of interest to your students, please contact Richard on rfallon@irishfilm.ie
