IVAN THE TERRIBLE PART 1 EVENING COURSE FROM RUSSIA WITH FILM

Eisenstein’s biopic of the bloody autocratic ruler who sought to unite the country against powerful hereditary boyars. Having already incurred the authorities’ disapproval, Eisenstein’s depiction of Ivan as a Russian hero, with sumptuous sets and an expressive acting style, won him the Stalin prize.

Justin Doherty, Assistant Professor in Russian at TCD, will offer an introduction to the cinema of Russia.

This event is taking place as part of the From Russia with Film Evening Course which runs from March 21st to April 25th at the IFI.
