On May 20th IFI Irish Film Programmer Sunniva O’Flynn will be a guest of Dalhousie University, Nova Scotia at the Canadian Association for Irish Studies / Association canadienne d’études irlandaises Conference 2015.
She will introduce an evening programme of Irish sound and silent films (accompanied by local fiddler) and also present an illustrated lecture, titled Tracing the Canadian connection : A new history of Irish film. This history as evidenced through material preserved at the IFI Irish Film Archive will tell the story of the evolution of the collection through extracts from a range of film types (amateur, professional, sound, silent, colour black and white, etc.), each of which have a distinct Canadian connection.
