Richard Harris and Stephen Rea prove to be in fine form in this character drama that follows salesman Eddie (Rea) as he runs afoul of violent underworld boss John Power (Harris). When his wife leaves him for Power’s son Ginger (Brendan Gleeson), Eddie’s bad luck only gets worse as he foolishly helps Power’s nephew run off with both Power’s bride and her dowry during their wedding. Quickly becoming an object of suspicion Eddie’s life comes under threat as he struggles to extricate himself from this deadly mess. Directed by Gillies MacKinnon, Trojan Eddie is a slow-burning, thoughtful drama about the relationships Eddie forms with the world around him in a film that brings the best out of its stellar cast.
