Cass (Sarah Miles) escapes from an arid marriage in London and returns home to Co. Clare. The rekindling of passion with her old sweetheart is complicated by the arrival of her husband and the disapproval of locals. Lively scenes of the London emigrant experience contrast starkly with life in the faded seaside town in this tale of romance and melancholy.

The IFI & One City One Book present a trilogy of films directed by Desmond Davis with screenplays by Edna O’Brien.
The Country Girls – April 3rd
