IFI & KINOPOLIS: TRAFFIC DEPARTMENT

Director: WOJCIECH SMARZOWSKI

118 minutes, Poland, 2013, Subtitled, Colour, D-Cinema

The new film from director Wojciech Smarzowski, subject of a special focus in last year’s Kinopolis, sees him once again take on the darker elements of Polish society.

In a group of corrupt and debauched police officers, Ryszard Król (Bartlomiej Topa) is perhaps the least depraved; however, when the body of a colleague he had threatened to kill after discovering his affair with his wife is recovered, Król, with no alibi or recollection of the night, is the chief suspect. Going on the run, he discovers there may be a conspiracy against him, making for a gripping, darkly humorous thriller.

Showing as part of IFI & Kinopolis: 8th Polish Film Festival (November 5th – 9th).
