1950s Moscow and the hipsters are at war with Young Communist League squares. Mels toes line till he meets rebellious Polly, buys a sax and learns to boogie, in this madcap fantasy of youth rebellion.

Justin Doherty will talk about Russian filmmaking today, looking at the changing nature of Russian society and the legacy of the Soviet past.

This event is taking place as part of the From Russia with Film Evening Course which runs from March 21st to April 25th at the IFI.
