Just when Clint seems to have hung up his boots, he emerges into the screen light with another actor-director work that recalls some of the roles which have sustained his long film career. As crusty one-time rodeo star and horse breeder, Mike, he is asked by an old pal to bring his estranged son back. No real surprises, Clint and the boy embark on an eventful journey, carving out an agreeable and affectionate relationship. There’s something elegant and satisfying about the enduring cowboy’s endeavour.
