Tensions erupt between German construction workers and Bulgarian villagers in Valeska Grisebach’s (Longing) long-awaited third feature, the title of which deliberately invokes the legacy of classic Hollywood frontier sagas.

Western is a supremely confident slow-burn drama touching upon questions of masculinity, communication and modern German identity.
