Continuing our annual collaboration with Trad Fest we are pleased to present two programmes of films about the success of Irish traditional music abroad.

On the occasion of Martin Hayes head-lining with Dennis Cahill at Trad Fest, we are pleased to revisit Art O’Briain’s intimate and uplifting documentary which follows Hayes, one of Ireland’s greatest fiddlers and a leading exponent of traditional Irish music, on his musical odyssey from Ireland to Japan and the United States. The film reveals a fascinating character; an eloquent and articulate champion of the old and the new in Irish music, and blends striking images of Irish nature with sensitive and diverse settings for his music.

Programme 2, Over Here – Traditional Music and Dance in England and The Dubliners – A Celebration, will take place on January 27th (13.00)
