To the Starry Island

When a man attempts to bring the body of his father to his native island for burial, the local inhabitants protest angrily and prevent the coffin from coming ashore. Gradually, we learn of events that took place on the island during the Korean War, which implicate the deceased father in a crime against the community. Director Park Kwang-soo has called his film ‘a study of the potential for Korea to heal its past wounds and achieve reconciliation.
