Brothers Prosper and Boniface help their younger brother Bo escape from their wicked aunt and uncle and they make their way to Venice, a city their mother used to describe as magical. Here they hide out in a disused cinema with other kids, led by the Thief Lord, Scipio. The plot thickens when their aunt and uncle hire detectives to track them down. Outwitting the adults and finding their way to a magical roundabout on a secret island in the lagoon, the brothers have plenty of adventures along the way.
