From his position as private secretary to Yoon, the head of South Korea’s largest corporation and its wealthiest family, the ambitious Young-Jak is inexorably drawn into the tangled web of financial corruption and sexual politics spun by the family to maintain the status quo. Behind the scenes, power is wielded with an iron fist by matriarch Geum-Ok, who orchestrates the purchase of officials to overlook her son’s indiscretions, while divorced daughter Nami struggles with her conscience as she enjoys the surrounding opulence.

When Yoon decides to leave it all behind and pursue happiness with housemaid Eva, with whom he has been having a long-standing affair, events are set in motion by the furious Geum-Ok which affect the burgeoning relationship between Young-Jak and Nami, and lead to tragedy. A visual feast, this stylish, sexy film is a withering commentary on the lives of the elite. (Notes by Kevin Coyne.)
