God (Benoît Poelvoorde) lives in an apartment in Brussels; a mean-spirited curmudgeon in mangy pyjamas, he wreaks petty torments and large-scale disasters upon his subjects. His wife (Yolande Moreau) knows to keep out of his way, and focuses on her embroidery.

We know a lot about his son, JC, who is taking a back seat these days, but less so about headstrong daughter Ea (Pili Groyne). Ea plans to escape and avenge her father’s mistreatment of the earth by writing her own Brand New Testament, based on the lives of six randomly selected ‘apostles’, and by revealing his most cherished secret, the date of everybody’s death, which the peoples of the world receive via text message, the effect being an immediate outbreak of global peace. In the wake of Deathleaks, God realises he “no longer has mankind by the balls.” (Notes by David O’Mahony.)
