This highly innovative, multi-award winning film is a welcome addition to the Leaving Certificate English Comparative choice. When silent film actor Valentin finds himself becoming increasingly out-of-date with the arrival of sound, his co-star and one-time fan Peppy becomes a star in her own right. An homage to early Hollywood with a modern sensibility, the film explores themes of romance, fame and artistry through the medium of black and white silent cinema, showcasing some exceptionally crafted visual storytelling along the way.
