Father Antonio (Joaquim de Almeida) is a Catholic priest, devoted and generous and much loved by the people of Vila Daires, a quiet town in northern Portugal. But Vila Daires is not as calm as it may seem at first glance, and when Lena (Cristina Camara) crosses his path, Father Antonio is forced to confront his inner demons. Once again, director Joaquim Leitão (Adam and Eve) brings to light the conflict between the beliefs of communities (and individuals) who are still imprisoned by ancient, deep-rooted moralities, and the strength of human desires.
