ONE FINE MORNING

Director: MIA HANSEN-LØVE

112 mins, France, 2022, Digital, Subtitled, F Rated

Sandra (Léa Seydoux), a freelance translator, is juggling the demands of work and motherhood while becoming the principal carer for her father, Georg (Pascal Greggory),
a retired philosophy professor, who is losing his sight, memory, and independence to a neurodegenerative disease. A chance meeting with an old acquaintance, Clement (Melvil Poupaud), a scientist with a young son and an ailing marriage, swiftly develops into a passionate affair, albeit one whose moments of joy are diluted by the frustration and complications of its clandestine nature.

A semi-autobiographical story that plays to Hansen-Løve’s strengths as a director, One Fine Morning blends acutely observed slice-of-life moments with finely calibrated dramatic beats, and boasts another remarkably empathetic performance from the versatile Léa Seydoux, providing further proof that she is one of the finest actors working today.
