My Left Foot

LEAVING CERTIFICATE ENGLISH
We are delighted to screen this classic Irish film again for school students. With the support of Ferndale Films and, in particular producer Noel Pearson, there will be an extensive tour of the film throughout this term and next. As a prescribed ‘text’ on the Revised Leaving Certificate English course, the film is an ideal choice for comparative study.

My Left Foot tells the true story of Christy Brown (Daniel Day Lewis), a Dublin writer born with cerebral palsy. It spans the period from his early childhood years to meeting his wife Mary (Ruth McCabe) and recounts with humour and passion his progress towards self-expression and interaction with others. A study guide for teachers will be available from fiieducation shortly
