L’Ange de Goudron

To celebrate World Day of French, we are pleased to present Denis Chouinard’s thriller about immigrants after they have arrived on Canada’s shores. Ahmed Kasmi and his family have fled Algeria and he is only a week away from getting Canadian citizenship. But Ahmed’s teenage son Hafid, secretly a member of a militant group, breaks into the immigration office and deletes databanks worth of information. His crime is captured on security cameras and broadcast on the TV nightly news, which Ahmed sees. Devastated by his son’s actions, Ahmed heads onto the Montreal streets to search for Hafid, and discovers an entire underworld of radical activism and militancy he never knew existed.
