Km.O

Director: Juan Luis Iborra/Yolanda Garcia Serrano

Seven couples arrange to meet at Kilometre Zero, Spain’s imaginary centrepoint in downtown Madrid, each believing that on such a hot and sultry August evening there shouldn’t be many people around. Amor (Silke Hornillos Klein) wants to persuade her boyfriend to get married. Pedro (Carlos Fuentes) arranges to meet actress Silvia Merce Pons), who wants to audition for a famous director. Butch flamenco dancer Bruno (Victor Ullate) goes there to meet his internet date, but ends up with Benjamin (Miguel Carcia), whose gigolo room-mate Miguel (Jesus Cabrero) is hooking up with middle-aged Marga (Concha Velasco). As the plot twists and turns, unexpected meetings, mistaken identities and second chances make for a brilliantly executed comedy of errors which won the Audience Award at the Miami and Turin Lesbian & Gay Film Festivals.
Directors: Yolanda Garcia Serrano, Juan Luis Iborra. Spain, 2000. English subtitles. Colour. Dolby digital stereo. 105 mins.
