French animator Michel Ocelot charmed audiences worldwide with the first Kirikou, an animated children’s film that approximated African folk tales. Kirikou, the razor-sharp little boy who emerged from his mother’s womb able to speak, is the problem-solving lynchpin of four new stories in this delightful follow-up. Using ingenuity, deductive reasoning and bravery, Kirikou outsmarts the evil witch who threatens his resilient African village. The film contains some amazingly beautiful scenes, especially those depicting the African landscape. Veteran musician Manu Dibango, considered the father of world music, contributes a wonderful score.

This screening is organised with the support of the French Embassy in Ireland.
