Journey to Little Rock: The Untold Story of Minnijean Brown Trickey

When their journey to school was threatened by violent mobs, nine black teenagers stood their ground against them, the National Guard and the Governor of Arkansas in order to attend an all-white school in Little Rock, Arkansas. It was 1957 and the group’s actions played a central role in the development of the civil rights movement in North America and the de-segregation of American schools. Their experiences have particular resonance for Ireland today and this documentary film recounts the remarkable life of Minniejean Brown Trickey, one of the group which became known as the ‘Little Rock Nine’. Credited by Martin Luther King Jr for inspiring a whole generation of young people to join the civil rights movement, this outstanding woman has devoted her life to fighting against racism and violence, championing human rights and environmental protection.
