JIMMY’S HALL

Director: Ken Loach

UK/Ireland/France, 2014, Drama/History, 109 min

Director Ken Loach follows his previous Irish outing, The Wind that Shakes the Barley, with this inspiring portrait of Irish activist Jimmy Gralton who opens a dance hall in rural Leitrim in the 1930s. The place quickly grabs the attention of the Church and
politicians, who eventually close it down and force Jimmy to flee. Returning years later and witnessing the growing cultural oppression, Jimmy decides to reopen the abandoned hall, regardless of the consequences.

This screening is followed by a Q&A session with lead actor Barry Ward.
