IRELAND ON SUNDAY: WHERE THE SEA USED TO BE

Director: Paul Farren

76 minutes, Ireland, 2012, Digi-beta

Director, writer and actor Paul Farren and co-writer and actor Stephen Walsh will participate in a post-screening Q&A.

Ireland on Sunday is our monthly showcase for new Irish film.

Paul Farren’s feature debut is a quietly deadpan comedy following two brothers as they reunite in Dublin for Christmas. Obligatory pints are consumed. Nobody gets too drunk. They don’t discuss the big issues. No great wounds are healed nor sins forgiven. But gradually we learn everything important there is to know about these two men as they bicker mildly towards home where memories wait in ambush. They do meet Santy. Briefly. And their Auntie Betty cooks them a fry.
