Ireland on Sunday, the exciting monthly showcase for new Irish fiction and documentary film, continues with the Dublin premiere of Derek Mahon: The Poetry Nonsense.
Regarded by many as ‘the poets’ poet, Derek Mahon has written some of the most admired and respected contemporary poetry in the English language, winning numerous awards for his work including the prestigious David Cohen Prize for a lifetime achievement in literature. He has produced in excess of twenty collections of poetry, has adapted literary novels for film and television, and has worked as a literary journalist for many Irish and UK newspapers and magazines. With Michael Longley and Seamus Heaney, he is one of the esteemed triumvirate known as The Ulster Poets, all of whom appear here in an insightful and illuminating exploration of Mahon’s life and work. In this feature-length biographical documentary, director Roger Greene persuades Mahon to break his media silence to discuss his work and inner self, revealing a hitherto unseen and humorous persona.

We are delighted to announce that Derek Mahon and director, Roger Greene will be in attendance at the screening.
