Maurice Linnane

This film screened 12th December 2010.

Ireland on Sunday is our monthly showcase for new Irish Film.

Made as part of a campaign by LGBT youth service BelongTo, Stand Up: Best Friend features a series of interviews with LGBT individuals and their straight best friends.

This intimate, humorous film captures a snapshot of a changed Ireland where the weights of dogma and prejudice have been lifted and where honesty and the bonds of friendship prevail.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with director Maurice Linnane and producers Cathleen Dore and Mark O’Halloran.

Screening with If You Like It Then You Should Be Able To Put A Ring On It (15 minutes, 2010). Using animation, quirky music, vox pop and interviews, this energetic new short explores the Civil Marriage campaign in Ireland. Directed by Cara Holmes and Ciara Kennedy.
