Winner of the TEDDY Award for Best Documentary at the 2020 Berlin Film Festival, If It Were Love straddles our perceptions of what is real and fiction, staged and spontaneous, and crucially, the truth in those euphoric moments when the BPM matches your heart rate.

Centred around the professional and personal lives of the dancers in Crowd, a performance by choreographer Gisèle Vienne inspired by 90s rave culture, we follow this multi-gendered troupe as their bodies become vessels of movement and emotion.

In a time when we are still denied the thrill of the sweat-soaked dance floor, this film takes on a poignant sense of loss and wanting. A delirious high. Catch this one in the cinema if you can.

A Filmmaker Q&A will follow this screening.

Presented in partnership with the French Embassy in Ireland.
