91 mins, Italy/Argentina, 2019, Digital

This film is F-rated.

Lu is a disruptive, rebellious teenage mother. She lives with her daughter Nina in a women’s refuge run by a group of nuns in Buenos Aires. Her friendship with Fati, and their shared experience of being children abruptly converted to mothers, presents the heart-breaking experience of life in a refuge. The arrival of sympathetic Sister Paula coincides with Lu going missing, and what ensues is a sensitively realised, honest portrayal of the hugely varying aspects of motherhood, womanhood and life for women and girls at the edges of society.

Screening exclusively online on IFI@Home as part of the Dublin Feminist Film Festival 2021, August 20th-22nd.
