DEUX DE LA VAGUE: JULES ET JIM

Director: Francois Truffaut

105 minutes, France, 1962, Subtitles, Black and White, 35mm

This month sees the release of Roger Michell’s Le Week-End, in which Jim Broadbent and Lindsay Duncan acknowledge their marital problems while visiting Paris. The film is filled with nods to the Nouvelle Vague, with this film in particular.

Truffaut’s Jules et Jim is the tale of a decades-long love triangle that remains as fresh today as it must have been when first released, soundtracked by what might be Georges Delerue’s best score.

As part of Deux de la Vague, Jean-Luc Godard’s Bande à part will be showing on October 6th at 14.00.
