CODA closes at the IFI this Saturday, April 30th.

First screened at the IFI when it was released last August, we’re pleased to once again offer audiences the opportunity to see Sian Heder’s CODA on the big screen following its recent Oscars triumph, where it won all three of the awards for which it was nominated, including Best Supporting Actor, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Film. Seventeen-year-old Ruby (Emilia Jones) is the sole hearing member of a deaf family. Her life revolves around acting as interpreter for her parents (Marlee Matlin, Troy Kotsur) and working the family’s fishing boat every day before school. On joining her high school’s choir club, Ruby discovers a gift for singing, and is drawn to duet partner Miles (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo). Encouraged by her choirmaster (Eugenio Derbez) to apply to a prestigious music school, Ruby finds herself torn between family obligations and the pursuit of her own dreams.
