Chess

Set in Dublin,in St. Patricks prison for young offenders and the sprawling working class suburbs of Tallaght where chronic poverty, early school leaving and crime predominate.Chess is a story about alienated youth who regain a sense of dignity through the game of chess. The story of their lives, their own self-assessments,how school has failed them, and how they ended up in trouble with the law unfolds as the documentary follows the fortunes of teenagers inside and outside of prison across the duration of a chess league in Dublin.
