Join us for FREE screenings of films from the IFI Irish Film Archive. Simply collect your tickets at the IFI Box Office. This month we mark the passing of Ireland’s foremost poet, Seamus Heaney.

PROGRAMME 1: SEAMUS HEANEY: POET IN LIMBOLAND
Written and presented by Heaney himself, this reflection on Northern Ireland explores the strife caused by sectarianism in Northern Ireland. The film includes readings of ‘Death of a Naturalist’, ‘Mid-Term Break’ and other poems.

PROGRAMME 2: A CITY SOLITARY
Written by his close friend and fellow Nobel Prize winner John Hume, a then 26-year-old teacher in St Columb’s College which they had attended together as school-boys, this reflection on Heaney’s beloved Derry is handled with insight and sympathetic impartiality.
