Irish Film Institute -AFTERNOON TALKS: THE FRIGHT FORUM

AFTERNOON TALKS: THE FRIGHT FORUM

The lead up to Hallowe’en is always a busy time for cinematic frights and nowhere more so than here at the IFI. We’ll be joined by a panel of Horror experts and aficionados including Dr. Bernice Murphy (TCD and co-founder of Irish Journal for Gothic and Horror Studies), Ciaran Foy (director of acclaimed new Irish Horror film Citadel) and Professor Darryl Jones  (TCD English Dept. with a research interest in Horror Literature and Film).

We’ll discuss why the possibility of being terrified has been one of the great draws throughout cinema history, the evolution of archetypal horror characters, and the on-going issues of censorship and hostility concerning the genre. We’ll also discuss the future of horror and compare what seems to be quite a slow period in American horror with the growing international production base in Europe and the Far East.

This event is FREE but ticketed. Please book your seat when visiting or by calling the IFI Box Office on 01 679 3477.
