The Pete Walsh Critical Writing Award was established to celebrate the memory of our former head programmer who passed away in December 2012 and was a central figure at the IFI for 18 years.
The award is designed to highlight the importance of critical engagement with film, by showcasing an outstanding piece of writing. In this case, any theatrically released film from 2016 can be the subject, and anyone can submit their review or article.
We will be accepting submissions until Tuesday the 28th of February 2017, and then the judging panel will assess the entries to choose the best of the year. This winner will get their review published on the IFI website and will also get access to a year’s free screenings at the IFI with their very own Gold Card!
2015 winner Julia O’Mahony
