WILD STRAWBERRIES: WHATEVER WORKS Director: WOODY ALLEN 93 minutes, 2010, U.S.A., Comedy/Drama/Romance Book cinema tickets Wild Strawberries is our bimonthly film club for the over 55s. A new film from Woody Allen, To Rome with Love, invariably begs comparisons with his previous release, Midnight in Paris, or even with the classics of his early career. This 2010 title almost slipped under the radar. Starring Larry David from TV’s Curb Your Enthusiasm and Seinfeld, as Boris, a ranting Professor who is convinced that life, religion and the world at large are all at fault – not him. “Almost” nominated for a Nobel Prize, he now lives in Chinatown, teaches chess and sits in a café kvetching with his friends. He talks to the camera, complaining at large about the idiots around him. Until he meets young Melody who moves into his apartment and they form an unlikely relationship based on “whatever works”. €3.85 per person including regular tea/coffee before the screening.
