IFI YOUTH PANEL – BREAKFAST ON PLUTO

Director: NEIL JORDAN

129 mins, UK-Ireland, 2006, Digital

This month, the IFI Youth Panel have chosen Breakfast on Pluto, directed by Irish filmmaker Neil Jordan, adapted from Pat McCabe’s novel of the same name, and starring a young Cillian Murphy. The film follows Patricia, a trans woman trying to escape the social judgement of her small Irish town and locate her birth mother in London, coming across violence and discrimination. The panel chose this film as a reflection of recent Irish history and its intersection with the transgender community.

The IFI Youth Panel is formed from 22 & Under Cardholders and meets regularly to plan and programme screenings at the IFI. 22 & Under card now offers €5.00 tickets for young people aged between 16-22, see more here.
