Writer-director Lola Quivoron’s fast-paced debut follows teenage Julia (brilliant first-time actress Julie Ledru), an atypical heroine in search of herself and looking for her own tribe. Julia, aka ‘the stranger’, finds her passion in the world of motorcycles. Fearless, she takes part in illicit ‘rodeo’ gatherings on the fringes of the Paris suburbs, where clandestine hordes show off their bikes and their latest stunts. In this environment dominated by men – with tough and strict codes – she meets Kais, and a gang who traffic spare parts. Quivoron puts her camera inside this world as she follows a hypnotic Julia in this documentary-like film.
