BOB FOSSE: ALL THAT JAZZ Director: Bob Fosse 123 mins, USA, 1979, Digital 4K Book cinema tickets Bob Fosse turns the lens inward with this semi-autobiographical drama which Stanley Kubrick apparently heralded as ‘the best film I think I have ever seen’. Choreographer, director and womaniser Joe Gideon (Roy Scheider) struggles to finalise his latest film while in rehearsals for a new Broadway show. Living only to work and blurring professional and personal life completely, he persists with a half-smoked cigarette dangling from his lips at all times, a cocktail of drugs and alcohol, and, of course, his all-consuming love for show business. A dark, witty and surreal insight into Fosse’s mind, sprinkled with effective and revealing musical numbers. Screening as part of our Bob Fosse season, June 9th to 30th.
